The Dallys are a husband and wife team that are dedicated to serving the sheep industry by providing new genetics, AI services, and flock consulting. Martin’s long career at UC Davis doing sheep research provided him the opportunity to hone his skills in the field of artificial laparoscopic insemination. Thru his company Super Sire Ltd he has been importing ovine genetics and servicing clients throughout the US for over thirty years. The beginnings…
Martin’s family history is steeped in the California ranching tradition. The 2000 head of commercial sheep the family owned provided him with the knowledge base he built his career upon. He has been managing and showing sheep since his youth. For many years his passion was Merinos and the production of fine wool. He has served on various breed association boards over the years and at present serves on the ASI Genetics Committee. Although the face of the land is much changed in the Dixon area, portions of the home place are still retained within the Dally family as agricultural land.

Joy also comes from an rich agricultural background although with a much different perspective. Being raised on a hillside family farm in Western New York provided the basis for firm land values and animal husbandry skills that shape the ranching property that the Dallys have created at Shepherds Lane of Oregon. Her love of fiber and the sheep that produce it fuel the passion that is needed to create and maintain the flock they shepherd today.
Our Journey Together…
The quest for new genetics on behalf of clients and our own interests has taken around us the world and has forged new friendships that would never have been possible without sheep in our lives. Each year we travel thousands of exhausting miles together servicing AI clients, delivering sheep, and attending promotional events. We hope you will follow along with us as Shepherds Lane Travels.
Sheep, Sheep, Sheep. Wool, Wool, Wool. The theme of our lives together. A client once told us “ you are both enablers of one another” and it’s true. Martin loves to make sheep and I adore having them and the fiber so on we go…to one sheep adventure after another and ever growing piles of fabulous wool to work with! Our sheep are where all our work manifests and like so many shepherds around the world, we would be lost without them in our lives.
