Emma's #1 Pelt

$295.00

Here at Shepherds Lane we not only produce premium fibers but also premium pelts and lambskins. As some of our sheep enter the food chain, we are mindful of each one and the part they play in the circle of life on a farm. It is in this spirit of respect that we preserve the essence of their being by harvesting these beautiful pelts and lambskins to be used and treasured for years to come. Each one is unique, no two are alike in character and color.

This pelt is oh so soft and snuggly. The fiber is dense and full, giving it loft that makes you just want to sink into it and dream. This was harvested off a Teeswater cross lamb so the fiber itself is very soft to the touch with a nice sheen. It is a good sized skin, measuring about 41 inches long. Very well shaped and no blemishes in the hide. The staple length is about four inches long. This would be so nice on the back of a couch and even in a bed to snuggle with.

These are tanned in the USA to be washable however I don’t recommend that they be laundered in a washer as it is difficult to get them as soft and pliable again as they are now. They can be spot cleaned, dry cleaned, or cleaned by a furrier. From time to time I air mine outside and occasionally hang them up and mist the wool. Then air dry them out of the direct sunshine so they dry slowly and don’t stiffen. Also can be put in the dryer for a quick fluff. They really are easy to care for, are incredibly resilient, and will last for years if given a bit of care and respect.

The gift giving season will be upon us shortly and this is a great way to say you care to that special person in your life. If you have any questions or need help finding that special lambskin, get in touch with me please. I have quite a collection in the Studio and may have just what you have been dreaming of finding!
