Teeswater Rinsed Fleece 3 Lb.12oz.
This breed is listed on the watch list of the Rare Breeds Trust in the UK, the country of its origin, and has recently been added as a rare breed on the Livestock Conservancy here in the USA. (Our flock is in the “Shave Em to Save Em” program…just let me know if you are participating and I will include your SE2SE label.) The Teeswaters have been established here by using semen and an upgrading program which we have helped to establish and continue to support with genetics and high quality breeding stock. Our flock numbers around 50 to 75 head so fleeces are always in stock as they are usually shorn twice a year.
This fleece is pretty special. This is a coming yearling clip from an outstanding young Teeswater ewe. I rinsed the ewe before shearing so the fiber is nice and clean but not washed. It is clean enough to be used as it is. It is skirted and fairly free of vm. Weight is 3 pounds and 12 ounces. The fiber length is very nice at six inches plus. Locks are fine and well purled. Large portions of this fleece are intact and could be turned into a felted piece or dyed for boas and wearables. Will be beautiful when washed! Suitable for any fiber arts medium. Just a great fleece!
