Valais Blacknose Lamb #1384 Fleece
This fiber is from one of our Shepherds Lane 75% Valais Blacknose, 25% Gotland ram lambs named Andy. As you know, this breed is currently being established in the USA by a process we call “upgrading”, which is why I use percentages in my descriptions to represent the fiber as accurately as possible for you.
Before I shear the lambs they get a nice rinse and air dry in the sun…this makes for a clean, fresh fleece to shear and offer to spinners. I have taken every effort to skirt and remove any vm or short bits so you are getting the very best of the best this young lamb could offer! Weighs 1 pound and 6 ounces. Staple length is on average about three to four inches long. Many of the locks are intact enough to use for felt projects or art yarns. This fiber has a bit of crimp and a bright luster.
Give Valais a try and let me know what you think of this unique fiber!
